Paul Cantos is an idiot. I was traveling through Ojo Caliente to Santa Fe to meet some friends. I decided.....Well I should say my wife decided to stop here and have lunch. Glad we did. Soft warm Mexican environment and good dining. Nothing fell short of being good. Service was good and so was the food. Paul take your hate somewhere else. It is hard for small cafes like this one to survive in such a big world without great food and service.

The cooks and waitresss are very friendly and eager to serve. The food and especially the tortilla burgers with green chili are the best money can buy. Several of us snowmobilers stop by on weekends for breakfast and dinner. Prices are very reasonable too. Their orange cake is to die for too.

Good place for an inexpensive meal - and the homemade chocolate cake was delicious.

I really enjoyed my visit. The dinner has many nostalgic items that can't help but peak your interest. The staff were courteous and friendly. I ordered a Green Chili Frito Pie and it was like nothing I've had. I look forward to stopping there again next time through. 👍👍👍👍

Good food. Power went out while our food was being prepared so they could serve all of us everything we ordered. Waitress was friendly and did the best she could.

Very good food. Get the homemade green chile cheeseburger and you'll never regret it. The owners will go out of their way to please. Better prices than in the resort.

Keep an eye out for the homemade jams & jellies for sale at the counter. I am still enjoying my selections from Oct. now in January 2020. First class!

Wonderful spot with some really great locals. Its a place where the regulars and the tourists can unite as one over a cup of coffee. I also saw a few people order for take out if you are just passing through.

Okay it is a nice quiet little cafe however the Mexican food is not something that is on par with New Mexico. I got the combination plate beef burrito cheese burrito and it had a decent amount of green chili on it however the meat in the beef burrito was maybe boiled because it came out grey and flavorless. The salsa that came with the taco was borderline ketchup sauce and the taco shell was like pre made, like you could pick up at a gas station in a box of 20.

I've never wanted to be a local old guy more so than when I had breakfast there. Great atmosphere for a nice Sunday morning NM style meal. Loved it.

We stopped in here on the way to Ojo Caliente Hot Springs. Does not look like much on the outside but the food was great. The service was friendly and smiling (not as regular to see as I would like). Very local type place with a good variety on the menu. Had both American dishes like fried steak and Mexican dishes.We had the sampler combination plate and wife had the green chili stew. Both tasted great. They were out of the homemade cobbler and a few of the other homemade desserts as we came by at the end of the day. If your staying at the hot springs this is just down the road. Only about a minute from your room door.

Friendly service, and they serve a nice breakfast. I've only ever been here at breakfast time (twice) and have enjoyed it both times. A bit of a crowd arrived at opening time when I was there, yet everyone was served in order of arrival and in decent time. Pricing is quite reasonable. Remember that this is a little, locally run place and not "in the big city" and you'll be able to enjoy it as I did.

Back on November 2016, my husband and I went to Ojo Caliente for our first time. It was around Thanksgiving. I think it was actually Thanksgiving day and during lunch time, we were hungry and were looking for a place to grab a bite. We saw Mesa Vista cafe so we stopped but when we went in someone let us know they were having a private family lunch and the restaurant was closed to the public. As we were leaving, one of the owners came out and said we were welcomed to join them. We were so grateful and didn't want to intrude, but she insisted and her husband also invited us in. It was amazing to sit down and share such a wonderful lunch with a large family. Sorry it took this long to write this review, life has happened... But we have never forgotten your generosity and warm heart. Thank you!

My friend and I had a fabulous breakfast here. The green Chile was so fresh! I ordered completely off menu and the waitress and cook didn't bat an eye, and I received exactly what I wanted. I wish I lived closer. Great place, cute decor, great friendly people.

This place is located just outside of the Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs Resort & Spa and is much more inexpensive to eat at compared to the only restaurant available in the spa. If you want great food that has more bang for your buck, come eat here and enjoy the small town feel the restaurant has. Staff is courteous, attentive and hospitable more than anything!

Good food, great service

I have been to the Mesa Vista countless times. It is truly a mom and pop cafe, and it is truly a community based experience. Most nights, the restaurant is filled with people from up and down the valley, greeting each other and the owners, catching up on news and gossip. Tourists and travellers make up a smaller percentage of the crowd, which is too bad because this place is truly a slice of Americana. I grew up near this place, and it is run by a family with deep roots in the area. The owners and staff will treat you like a friend. To eat at the Mesa Vista is to be comforted by a simple meal prepared in a straightforward way. When you are in the middle of a tough work week, and facing the kitchen is just too much, the Mesa Vista will fix you up with a great green chile cheeseburger, bean burrito or huevos rancheros. It will always be served with a smile. The food is consistent and good, and if you are ever in Ojo, it is worth a trip.

Lovely little hole in the wall restaurant. The decor leaves much to be desired, but it lends to the overall charm of this place. The food was great and the service was too. We will definitely be back.
